In 1928 Percy 'Tich' Freeman took his 300th wicket of the season – against Lancashire while playing for The Rest, a landmark no one else has reached. Freeman finished with 304 as The Rest won by an innings. Two hundred and fifty wickets in a season has been achieved 12 times, six of them by Freeman.
In 1996 two Kent pace bowlers took hat-tricks against Hampshire at Canterbury. It was the first for Martin McCague but the third of the season for Dean Headley, equaling the world record set by Charlie Parker in 1924 and India's JS Rao in 1963-64. Headley's two previous hat-tricks in 1996 were against Derbyshire at Derby and Worcestershire, again at Canterbury.
In 1997 play was stopped during the second ODI of the Sahara Cup between India and Pakistan at the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club when Inzamam-ul-Haq attacked a megaphone-wielding-heckler with his bat. Incensed at being called fat and aloo (potato), Inzamam lost his cool and ran into the stands to settle scores with his baiter Shiv Kumar Thind.
In 2007 Rahul Dravid resigned as India’s captain: Mahendra Singh Dhoni took over as one-day skipper.
