Statistical highlights of todays matches



INDIA VS ENGLAND (1st Day , 1st Test Match)

  • Swann is now behind only Derek Underwood on the list of most successful England spinners after going past Jim Laker's tally of 193 wickets.
  • Gambhir has now been dismissed six times by Graeme Swann in six Test matches. No other bowler has dismissed Gambhir as often as Swann.
  • This is the 6th century that Sehwag has scored at a strike rate of 100+. In Tests since 1990 only Gilchrist has done so more often (7 times)
  • It is also the second century stand between Sehwag and Gambhir in home Tests against England after the 117-run stand in Chennai in 2008.
  • The century opening stand is only the third for India in the match first innings against England
  • The century opening stand is the first for India since the Centurion Test 2010. In 20 inns in b/w Sehwag-Gambhir aggregated 605-run at 30.25
  • Only Sachin Tendulkar (22), Sunil Gavaskar (16) and Rahul Dravid (15) have scored more centuries in India than Sehwag (13).

BANGLADESH vs WEST INDIES

  • 982 runs scored so far is the highest ever in the first 2 innings in a Test in Bangladesh. The previous best was 915 in the Mirpur v England in 2010.
  • This is the 3rd time that 4 centuries have been scored in the first 2 inns in a Test in Bangladesh. The last time this happened was v India 2007.
  • 167-run stand b/w Shakib Al Hasan-Naeem Islam is the highest 4th wkt stand for B'desh surpassing the previous best of 120 v WI in 2004.
  • Bangladesh's total of 455 is their 2nd highest in Tests & their 2nd 400+ v WI. Their highest total is 488 against Zim in Chittagong 2005.
  • There has been only one previous occasion when Bangladesh have managed more 50+ stands (6) in a single inns than the four in this game v WI.
  • Naeem's century is his first in Tests and the 24th by a Bangladesh batsman. Five of these centuries have come against West Indies.
