Nov 20: Prithvi Shaw of Rizvi Springfield school has set a new record in school cricket by smashing 546 in the Elite Division of the Harris Shield cricket tournament (Under-16 inter-school) here on Wednesday.
This is the first time in Harris Shield cricket history that a batsman has scored over 500 runs.
The previous record was 498. Shaw began the day on 257 against St Francis D'Assisi. The 15 year-old right-hander had scored 27 boundaries and three sixes in his 166-ball stay on Tuesday.
Today, Shaw completed a record 500, according to reports on the micro-blogging site Twitter. On
Wednesday afternoon, Twitter was abuzz with Shaw's record score.
Former India opener Wasim Jaffer's nephew held the previous record. Armaan Jaffer had hit 498 in Harris Shield.
Springfield coach Raju Pathak was quoted by "DNA" newspaper on Tuesday, as saying, "We have two days and I have told Prithvi to go on without pressurising him for a 400. He is a talented batsman and plays without any pressure."
