Mumbai: Batting great Sachin Tendulkar doesn't want his son Arjun Tendulkar to get hounded by media. The master batsman on Sunday requested the media to allow his 14-year-old son to live a normal life of a teenager.
Tendulkar said like he was never told by anyone to follow his father's footsteps, he doesn't want anyone to put his son under pressure about something.
"My son has played his first club match [on Sunday]. I didn't have pressure from anyone to ask about following my father's footsteps.
Humble request to allow him to live life like a normal 14-year-old so he can fall in love with the sport," Tendulkar told reporters during an event on Sunday.
Arjun debuted in the Kanga League on Sunday, representing the Young Parsee Cricket Club. His debut match, however, didn't turn out to be that impressive as he could face just 12 balls.
The 14-year-old hit his first century of his career during the selection trials in May 2012, following which he made it to the U-14 probables list for the MCA training camp.
Tendulkar himself is expected to play his 200th Test match, most probably in Mumbai, after BCCI arranged a short home series against West Indies which will include two Tests and three ODIs in November.
